I'm wondering if anyone remotely familiar with the rental market in LA can tell me if these listings are scams? Or if there's probably some catch. They seem far too good to be true to me (I'm an NYC transplant).

Thanks in advance.

Do you judge people by what they read?

Under what circumstances do you think you should tell a friend their SO is cheating on them? Should you always tell? Always stay out of it? Does it depend on how close of a friend you are? How you "know"?

If you did tell a friend that their partner was cheating on them and they didn't believe you, would you drop it and never bring it up again? What if you found evidence?

It's pretty well known/suspected with my boyfriend's friends that one of the guys' fiance is engaged to another man. Someone told the guy but he doesn't believe it. I wasn't sure I believed it until I saw some pretty damning photographic evidence.

It's cold (and if it isn't, pretend it is). I mean really freaking cold.

What's your favorite way to get and stay warm?

Are there any books that actually scare you? I'm reading The Shining for like, the 10th time and just got to the scene with Jack and the dead woman in room 217. Yeah, that scene has been known to give me nightmares, and I don't usually get scared from a book.

Anybody here heard of Surface magazine?

Or if you have any art/design/fashion magazine you know of to share?

Seriously, I got a new one and wish to donate my old 2nd generation Nano to charity. Is there such a thing? It's not state-of-the-art and no longer under warranty but it still works fine.

How long do you think it would take a casual runner to train for a marathon?
How long would it take you?

Next Tuesday is my company's Christmas dinner, as well as my son's(twins) wrestling tournament. Which one should I attend?

I am leaning towards the wrestling tournament.

My favorite book of all time, despite all its flaws and that cringe worthy B movie quality film adaptation, is Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlin. No matter what my mood, that book manages to suck me in and make me forget about all stressors, troubles, or plain old boredom.

Whats your favorite book, novel or otherwise, of all time. Why?

Sorry to post again so soon, but I'm avoiding writing something that I really need to be writing. :S

Does anyone here have any amount of fake teeth?

I lost a molar in 2006 and recently had it replaced...to the tune of one and a half thousand pounds!!!

It's impossible to find an NHS dentist in the UK any more. :(

I really hope I don't loose any more. I am so massively paranoid about this now...my dental hygiene routine has become quite epic, I even have one of those water jet things.

Did your workplace have a Christmas party this year? (Or are they going to?)  What did they plan and how did it go?

Got any funny/embarrassing/scandalous office Christmas party stories for me?

I read on a forum I used to visit ages ago that one girl got so drunk at the office party (held at her boss' house, bad idea) that she stole the baked ham from the centre of the table and made off with it. No-one, including the girl, knew what happened to it until a few days later when her boss' dog dug it up out of the front yard. Guess she buried it...

do you know anyone who has graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology? if so, what are they currently working as?

i only know one person, and she works for the ministry of foreign affairs, which she claims to be rewarding yet extremely exhausting. i am thinking of dropping out of my business management degree and focusing mainly on my arts/psych degree, but am not sure of the career prospects, as i'm not exactly sure what career path i'd like to go choose right now. please make me feel better tqc :(

What films always make you really sad/make you cry?

For me it's The Deer Hunter.

What films have you found genuinely creepy? I love John Carpenter's The Thing, but have always found it freaky as hell. Ditto the 1970s version of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, probably for similar reasons. I recently watched The Abandoned, too, which is very atmospheric and very dark, and I had to sleep with the light on for a week after I watched it. (I'm 28 years old, hahahaha!)

What about films that always make you feel better? My choice for this is probably a little weird, but I have seen Peter Jackson's Bad Taste hundreds of times and it never fails to cheer me up, however depressed I am.

I remember this one scene from a movie:
A guy is some sort of computer-related genius and he is involved as a witness to a crime/conspiracy (or someone who knows inside info), and he types all he knows onto a typewriter and makes a carbon copy. He then throws away the original. Later on people were able to find out what he wrote by looking at the carbon paper and catches the bad guy.

WHAT IS IT? It's been bothering me for ages.

So I have a gift query.

Long story short: My family's 11 year old dog died a month or two ago. It was relatively unexpected and we have another dog, but that the now-dead one (Packer) was always my dad's dog more than anyone else's. I moved for work a few months earlier and he has shared custody of my little sister, so it was just him and Packer a lot of the time. He doesn't say anything about it, but I know he was really broken up about the dog's death and Packer was kind of his best friend.

I was thinking about getting my dad a gift that kind of commemorated Packer, but I don't want something uber-Things Remembered cheesy. I'm looking for something, you know, sort of dude-ish and not heavy-handedly sentimental. Anyone have any ideas? Or am I SOL?
